Wedding Planning with Beloved Events Co

When it comes to wedding planning, there can be a million things to think about. Who do you hire? What should you look for? Is there a difference between a venue coordinator & a day of coordinator? We interviewed one of our favorite wedding planning + floral teams, so take a peek at some tips & suggestions from a favorite vendor of ours!

Tell us a little bit about yourself + your Beloved team! How did you get started?

Hello~ my name is Angie and I am the founder of Beloved Events Co.! We are a small wedding planning company based in the OC that also provides floral services. I started Beloved in 2020 after a few years of being mentored under an event planning company throughout college. My mentor encouraged me to branch out and start my own business, and since I loved working weddings so much I decided to do it!

Our company is now almost 4 years old and our team has grown to have our Lead Coordinator Helen and our lead Florist Sally along with our many assistant coordinators and florists! In 2022 we have successfully assisted in planning or floraling over 60 weddings! 🙂

What packages do you have/offer? What’s your most popular one?

At Beloved Events Co. we offer two services: Coordination and Florals.

For coordination we have our Rosemary Package (full-planning), our Lavender Package (partial-planning) and our Poppy Package (about 3 months before the wedding). It really depends on what you need, but I would say our Lavender package was our most popular package this past year. Many people don’t need assistance with venue searching or budgeting, but almost everyone needs help with booking vendors!

For florals all orders are customized to your wedding! We work with you giving feedback and advice on what works with your venue and tables while considering the season your wedding is in. We do have a minimum that must be met for floral orders and we require that we be your sole florist.

What are some advantages to having a wedding coordinator who’s also your florist?

We’re a one stop shop! The perks of having your coordinator also be your florist is the cohesiveness. Your wedding will look and flow better with one business handling two major aspects! Not to mention, fewer vendors to have to communicate with~

What does your team typically handle on a wedding day?

Our coordinators are responsible for representing our couples to the vendors and the guests. We are the point of contact so you won’t be bothered, and can fully enjoy your wedding day. We set up all your decor, run your timeline throughout the day and are the last ones to leave your venue. We make sure you’re drinking enough (both water and alcohol 😉 ) and having a good time~

Do you have any tips/suggestions/criteria for couples looking for a planner? What about for a florist?

When looking for a coordinator, schedule an initial meeting! You want to vibe with your planner as they are the one person you are going to work closely with. They have to understand you and value your wants and needs for your wedding. I would say a planner who is bad at responding timely to emails is a red flag! Weddings can be time sensitive and within the boundaries of healthy working hours your planners should be responsive and helpful! Planners who also are just trying to get you to spend more money are a big No for us too. You want someone who’s going to give you the inside tips on how to save in certain areas, but also be upfront about being realistic when it comes to budgeting.

When looking for a florist, their work should be all over their instagram. With flowers it really just comes down to personal preference. We try to be mindful of our couples budgets and are huge on repurposing floral pieces, but please keep in mind floristry is an art. Florists charge what they believe their artwork to be worth, so asking for ways to cut down on costs is good but asking for discounts can be a little insensitive. We want to work with couples who also value our work~

What’s the difference between a venue coordinator & hiring a wedding planner or day of coordinator?

This is a big one. Many couples who have a coordinator included with their venue opt to not hire a wedding coordinator. Big mistake in my opinion. Your venue coordinator will be an expert on all things venue related: catering, number of chairs and tables, where the outlets are etc. But your wedding coordinator is an expert on all things wedding! And we prioritize YOUR wedding no matter when and where. We are the middle person between you and all your vendors, and have taken the time to get to know you guys to be able to represent you on the wedding day.
