What’s the difference between a venue coordinator & a day of coordinator? If you’re confused on the two and aren’t sure if you need both, here are some things to know.
The Role of a Venue Coordinator
A venue coordinator will primarily be an expert on your venue. This includes things such as catering/food, restrooms, bar, etc. A venue coordinator is a valuable part of your team— they will be your go-to person for all things venue-related. It’s helpful to have a venue coordinator on site that can assist you when you have questions pertaining to your venue site, but it is important to note the difference between the two because there can often be confusion on what roles they play on your wedding day.
The Role of a Day of Coordinator
A day of coordinator will be there to help bring your specific wedding vision to life. Depending on your agreement and your contract with your day of coordinator, their roles can include: communicating with your vendors, creating and/or managing the timeline for your day, styling & designing for your ceremony/reception, helping troubleshoot any problems that arise, making sure the day flows as smoothly as possible, etc.
What’s included in their services does depend on what’s included in your package (so make sure to read through their services thoroughly). Some day of coordinators include partial planning or full planning services. Whichever package you select with your potential planner will be your decision, but at minimum (and if possible), having a day of coordinator present for the day of your wedding is 1000% worth it.
