3 Tips on How to Prepare for your engagement session
We get it. We’ve been in front of the camera before, and we KNOW how awkward it can feel. You’re probably worried on where to place your arms and hands. But seriously — don’t worry. Come as you are and trust us do the rest. ;) It’s literally our job to make you look good, and part of that is to help you feel as comfortable and relaxed as possible.
But just cause we’ve got your back, scroll down for 3 ways to calm your nerves before your engagement shoot!
1. Get to Know Your Photographer
It is so so SO important to get to know and trust your photographer! If you haven’t yet booked someone, make sure you get to know them! Ask them about their approach. See if you connect with them. Read their F.A.Q’s. Get to know as much info as you can. Especially if you’re booking them for your wedding day, your photographer is someone you will be spending A LOT of time with, so it’s important that you get to know and trust them, even before you schedule your engagement session. Trust us, establishing a relationship now will go a long way in making sure you and your boo feel comfortable being in front of a camera with them behind it.
2. Prepare your outfits beforehand.
Plan out your outfits beforehand. Ask your photographer if they have recommendations or suggestions based on the location. Most of all, dress in a way that fits your personality but you will feel comfortable in! If you’re uncomfortable in what you’re wearing, it could show in the photos. So make sure you feel and look good in your outfits!
3. MOST IMPORTANTLY — HAVE FUN!
Remember what this is all about! If you focus on how awkward you think it’ll be, or how nervous you are, it will most likely show on the camera. But if you think of the engagement session as a bonding experience together, you’ll be more relaxed and have a lot more fun smooching and hugging in front of the camera. Letting loose and having fun with it is what will allow us to capture those candid, authentic and RAW moments that make up your relationship.
Think of it this way: Your engagement session can be a refreshing break away from all the noise and headaches that can come with wedding planning. This is a time where you two literally go out, and enjoy one another’s company. Except it’ll be more like a double date, but we’ll just have our cameras. ;)
